The Reverend Dr. Gina Stewart is the Senior Pastor of Christ Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Her primary focus area is on womanist interpretation and analysis of preaching by African American women. For her dissertation, Gina’s research centers on the homiletical theologies and sacred proclamations of womanist-identified preachers, particularly the preaching legacy of Rev. Dr. Claudette Copeland and her prophetic witness in the African American preaching tradition.
Gina chose the program at CTS because, as a lifelong learner, she wanted to connect homiletical theory more deeply to her work as a practitioner.
Some of her achievements include:
- Serving as President of Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention
- Serving as a National Board Member of NAACP
- Becoming an Associate Member of the Academy of Homiletics
- Receiving the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award, and pin from President Joseph R. Biden (June 2021)
