Description
The pastor shall, in accordance with the church’s by-laws and under the guidance of the Deaconate, lead and guide
the congregation in their spiritual and emotional growth. The pastor shall offer counsel in times of crisis and
facilitate pastoral care. The pastor shall exercise a prayerful leadership role for church meetings and functions and
coordinate leadership for team effort for all church programs. The pastor shall promote the church through
community activities. More specifically the pastor shall:
Plan and conduct all worship services, including Communion, Baptisms, weddings, and funerals under the guidance
of the Deaconate and coordination with the organist and secretary.
Facilitate pastoral care with hospital and home visits. As well as, develop a visitation program for those home from
the hospital, nursing home, homebound and well visits to potential new members.
Attend Deaconate, Christian Education, and Cabinet meetings, others only when special need arises.
Coordinate Christian education with the Christian Education Board and Sunday School Superintendent regarding
Sunday School involvement in church services, teaching Bible study classes and Confirmation classes.
Provide monthly pastoral reports to Deaconate, Cabinet and Treasurer. Give the church clerk information on all
baptisms, membership changes, weddings, and funerals.
Shall maintain weekly office hours, as stated in contract.
The pastor shall take time for personal study and prayer. making use of continuing education and self-reflection.
