Description

The Minister shall be responsible for preparation and delivering of sermons and other religious teachings to the congregation. Conduct religious rites and ceremonies, such as baptisms, weddings, funerals, and sacraments.

 

  1. The Minister directs the spiritual work of the church and makes the daily operational decisions involved in carrying out the church’s Mission and Vision as articulated by the Board.

 

  1. The Minister shall provide pastoral care through home and hospital visitation, pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, and other ministries as needed. The Minister shall provide religious education by working in and through the Education Committee, group Bible studies, and special educational programs and ministries.  As Chief Administrator (Constitution Article VII.C.1), the Minister shall be the primary supervisor of staff employed by the Congregation unless otherwise specified in the Bylaws.
  2. Pastor: Serve as pastor and advisor.  Serve as role model for spiritual development.  Serve as reconciler among members of the Congregation.  Pray for members of the Congregation and the community we serve.

The Minister shall:

  • create and dissolve Ministry Teams as needed to fulfill the Mission & Vision of LACC
  • recruit and train team leaders for Ministry teams
  • serve as the head of the Ministry Leadership Team
  • work in partnership with the Board and the Ministry Leadership Team to create Vision Goals that are measurable, realistic, timely and consistent with resources & talents of the congregation
  • supervise the work of all Ministry Teams and staff
  • prepare & submit to the board a proposed annual operating budget based on the coming year’s Vision Goals
  • submit to the Board at least one week before regular Board meeting a Ministry Team report summarizing the progress of the Ministry Teams on Vision Goals
  • evaluate staff and Ministry teams at least once per year
  • adhere to and update as needed the personnel handbook
  • create and maintain job descriptions for staff and ministry teams
  • initiate and implement spiritual renewal and worship activities as needed for all aspects of the church (governance, ministry, and congregation)
  • makes recommendations to the Board regarding the hiring, dismissing, or changing of compensation for any staff member.
