Coordinator of PUMC Children’s Ministries
(Approximately 20 hours per week, regular part-time exempt position)

The Coordinator of PUMC Children’s Ministries gives leadership to the children’s ministries of Plainfield United Methodist Church.

Qualifications

• Personal commitment to Christ and the work of the Church
• Have a passion for spiritual development, and an understanding of children’s ministry needs in the local church
• Experience and demonstrated leadership and proficiency in children’s ministries
• Effective communication, relational and administrative acumen
• Preference for an education background

Responsibilities

• Work with supervising pastoral leadership, Children's Council, and other church leadership, to develop, articulate, and deploy a Christ-centered philosophy for faith development (building disciples) at PUMC
• Be present and involved with Sunday morning Children's ministries
• Plan, develop, and organize special PUMC children’s events, e.g., Easter Eggstravaganza, Valentine’s Dance, Pancakes & Pajamas, Christmas Eve, Vacation Bible School, etc.
• Meet with and report to the Children’s Council on education plans, curriculum, and overall development of children’s ministries
• Responsible for recruiting, training, and deploying volunteer leaders for Sunday morning programming and other children’s events
• Supervise and train volunteer and paid childcare and nursery leaders for Sunday morning and other church events, including paid nursery staff person
• Work closely and communicate with the Director of Weekday Programs and the Director of Kids Connection regarding events, emergency situations, all other pertinent information
• Attend meetings of PUMC Staff, Church Council, Children’s Council, assigned staff teams, annual review meeting, and various short term planning groups as needed
• Set annual professional ministry goals with Senior Pastor and participate in ongoing supervision and review
• Complete other duties as the ministry requires and directed by the Senior Pastor

The Coordinator of Children’s Ministries takes work direction from, reports to, and is accountable to the Senior Pastor.
