Job Summary: The bi-vocational pastor serves as the spiritual leader of New Hope Baptist Church, a rural community of 50 members. This role involves preaching, teaching, providing pastoral care, and overseeing the spiritual and organizational health of the church community while also maintaining employment in a separate profession to support themselves financially.
Responsibilities:
- Preaching and Teaching:
- Prepare and deliver biblically sound and engaging sermons for weekly worship services.
- Provide educational opportunities through Bible studies, discipleship classes, and other forms of teaching aimed at spiritual growth.
- Pastoral Care:
- Offer compassionate pastoral care, counseling, and support to church members during times of joy, crisis, and grief.
- Visit the sick, elderly, and homebound members of the congregation to provide encouragement and spiritual guidance.
- Church Leadership and Administration:
- Collaborate with church leadership (Deacons/Trustees) to establish and implement the church's vision, mission, and strategic goals.
- Oversee and coordinate church ministries, programs, and events to foster spiritual growth and community engagement.
- Manage church resources responsibly, including finances, facilities, and personnel.
- Community and Outreach:
- Engage with the local community and build relationships with non-churchgoers to promote evangelism and community involvement.
- Participate in community events and initiatives to demonstrate Christ's love and the church's commitment to serving others.
- Bi-Vocational Employment:
- Maintain employment outside of pastoral duties to support personal and family financial needs.
- Manage time effectively to balance pastoral responsibilities with professional commitments, demonstrating reliability and dedication in both roles.
