At Christian Theological Seminary, we hold to the values that working toward justice for all is an imperative of Christian faith and life and that all people are created in the image of God and therefore have inherent worth and dignity.

Recently, the Supreme Court of the United States has agreed to revisit a ban of conversion therapy in the State of Colorado. According to the American Counseling Association, extensive research has demonstrated that conversion therapy is a harmful and damaging practice for clients. Conversion therapy lacks scientific veracity, has had deadly consequences for individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, and stands in direct violation of the codes of ethics of both major professional organizations that regulate the counseling and marriage and family therapy professions, the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), with which the degree programs that make up CTS’s School of Counseling and clinicians practicing at the CTS Counseling Center are affiliated.

As we believe that all people are created in the image of God and, therefore, have inherent worth and dignity, and as we seek justice for all people, CTS stands with the ACA and AAMFT in supporting gender affirming care and condemning the practice of conversion therapy.
