The 2025 Clergy Renewal program year is now open! Proposals are due Wednesday, March 12 at 11:59 pm Eastern time. Proposed leaves must begin in 2026. Lilly Endowment Clergy Renewal Programs are administered by the Center for Pastoral Excellence at Christian Theological Seminary. Through its religion grantmaking, Lilly Endowment, a private foundation, seeks to deepen and enrich the lives of Christians in the United States. It does this primarily by seeking out and supporting efforts that enhance the vitality of congregations and strengthen pastoral leadership of Christian communities.
To this end, National and Indiana Clergy Renewal Programs provide an opportunity for pastors to step away briefly from the demands of daily parish life and discover what will make their hearts sing through well-planned purposeful activities. Renewal leaves are not vacations; rather they allow for times of intentional exploration and reflection, and regaining enthusiasm and creativity for ministry.

The Center for Pastoral Excellence at Christian Theological Seminary administers these programs on behalf of the Endowment. We also ask that you not contact us to verify receipt of an application.
