Alumni Day 2024 Coming Feb 8
Christian Theological Seminary will hold Alumni Day 2024 on February 8! We look forward to seeing alumni from near and far both online and in person for the return of this exciting event. The CTS Alumni Board and a Resource Committee for Alumni Engagement worked with Director of Annual Giving Gayle Spicer to plan this new iteration of Alumni Day. Their main goal? To show alumni that we are here to support you – to connect with you, to help you connect with each other, and to support you as you live out your callings in theology and counseling that make our world a better place.
“Alumni Day is more than a day of continuing education. It’s an opportunity to connect with the school, reconnect with fellow alumni, see the work other alumni are doing, and to see how vital the education we received at CTS is to those doing work in the community,” says Alumni Board President Luis Gierbolini (MDiv ‘11). “It’s a great way to, as we say where I come from, ‘Big Up’ people – to lift them up and say, ‘Hey, we’ve got your back.’”
This year’s Alumni Day consists of two main components: a Virtual Kick-Off Experience at 10am Eastern by Zoom and an On-Campus Experience starting at 12pm Eastern. While we hope to connect with as many of you as possible in person on February 8, we recognize that not everyone is able to travel. The planning group incorporated both a virtual segment and an on-campus gathering to ensure the broadest possible participation of our alumni community.
The Virtual Kick-Off Component is themed “Restorative Reflections” and will be facilitated by Rev. Dr. Rickey McCray, Jr. (MDiv ’13, DMin ’19) and Rev. Aaron Thomas (CTS Staff). This portion of Alumni Day is focused on providing a space for reflection, restoration, and rejuvenation for our alumni. We know how much energy you put into the important work you do, and we want to celebrate you, lift you up, and support you.
The On-Campus Experience is jam packed to make the afternoon well worth your while, kicking off with a Luncheon at 12pm featuring keynote speaker Rev. Anastasia Holman (MDiv ’09). Rev. Holman is the Director of Chaplaincy Education for the IU Health System and holds an MBA, BCC, and is an ACPE Certified Educator. At 2pm, there will be a Panel Discussion on “Integrating Theology and Counseling in Healing” facilitated by Rev. Holman. The afternoon concludes with the Installation Ceremony of new CTS Dean Dr. Francisco Lozada, Jr. and his CTS Talk “Unpeeling Whiteness”: A Latino Perspective on Biblical Interpretation. There will be a reception immediately following the CTS Talk, and we hope alumni will take this opportunity to reconnect with faculty and community members old and new.
