Get to Know Dr. Courtney Buggs – New Director of PhD Program
Earlier this summer Christian Theological Seminary announced the transition of Rev. Dr. Frank Thomas towards an intentional retirement in 2025. As part of this planned transition, Rev. Dr. Courtney Buggs was announced as the new Director of the PhD Program in African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric.
Dr. Buggs has stepped into her role as Director of the PhD Program in African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric with gratitude, excitement, and a strong sense of purpose. When asked what she is most excited about in her new role, Dr. Buggs shared, “I’m excited to continue in the legacy that Dr. Frank Thomas began with the PhD Program, I’m excited to continue the work that we’ve already been doing for the last several years, and I’m excited to bring in new students. I would say to others who are thinking about being a part of the CTS community, ‘Come talk to us!’ Let’s talk about how we might help you continue to be who God has called you to be.”
