Faith & Action Fall Event
The Sum of Us
Heather McGhee
- Solutions to poverty require us to shine a light on the systemic imbalances and injustices that perpetuate poverty in order to bring about lasting change. On October 3, 2023, renowned author and speaker Heather McGhee will do just that.
- McGhee is the bestselling author of The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together and will share her insights with the CTS community when she serves as the keynote speaker and host of the Faith & Action Fall Event this October.
- In her keynote, McGhee will share how racism has brought a cost to everyone and suggest that until we bring to light the damaging narratives and biases that have been cultivated, we cannot make the progress that is needed to create economic equality and eliminate poverty.
- In the months prior to the event, the Faith & Action Project will host two book discussions facilitated by Rev. Grace Kozak to allow deeper conversations about the topics introduced in The Sum of Us. They will provide an opportunity for community members to discuss how each of us can play a role in creating a new vision and goal that spans different religions and races to end poverty. Mark your calendars, and stay tuned for more details!
