Christian Theological Seminary is proud to announce that Rev. Dr. Leah Gunning Francis, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty, has been appointed to serve on the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) Board of Directors for a four year term. The ATS is comprised of over 270 graduate schools of theology in the United States and Canada. According to their website, “Member schools conduct post-baccalaureate professional and academic degree programs to educate persons for the practice of ministry and for teaching and research in the theological disciplines. These schools differ from one another in deep and significant ways but, through their membership in ATS, they demonstrate a commitment to shared values about what constitutes good theological education.” In her role, Dean Gunning Francis will directly support the ATS mission to promote the improvement and enhancement of theological schools to the benefit of communities of faith and the broader public.
In addition to her role on the ATS Board, Dean Gunning Francis also serves on the Board of Directors for Peace Learning Center. Peace Learning Center (PLC) was created by a team of individuals hoping to reduce violence and increase kindness in our communities. Their governing body of individuals from the Indianapolis area helps to hold PLC’s work in alignment with its mission: facilitating community learning that acts as a catalyst for peace, equity, and justice that works towards their vision of a healed world where strong and caring communities strive together to fully live in peace.
