On May 28, CTS faculty, supervisors, and students gathered for the induction of CTS students Kenya Campbell, Denise Hein, and Iann Matlock into the Tau chapter of the Delta Kappa Honor Society. CTS lecturer Dr. Shruti Poulsen was also inducted at the ceremony.

Delta Kappa is the official honor society for the field of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), which “serves to further and complement the fine work being done by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, the American Family Therapy Academy, and the International Family Therapy Association.” The society aims to equip emerging leaders in the field of MFT, to develop scholarly forums for cutting edge research and theory for practitioners, and to recognize and promote the achievements of marriage and family therapy clinicians and scholars.

Local chapters of Delta Kappa are hosted by institutions of higher education that train students in MFT. In 2015, Prof. Suzanne Coyle, Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology and Marriage and Family Therapy and Director of the MAMFT Program at CTS, worked with the seminary administration, faculty, and supervisors to establish the Tau chapter of the honor society at CTS.

Prof. Coyle celebrates the CTS chapter’s continued activity for being “an enriching professional community that lifts up the value of striving for excellence.” The MFT program at CTS celebrates nearly 30 years of accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), and Prof. Coyle explained that the Tau chapter of the honor society offers “another robust layer of achievement” in the field and “a natural way to encourage academic rigor and excellence with the MFT program here at CTS.”
