Christian Theological Seminary is excited to welcome the renowned Valparaiso University Chorale and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra to its campus on Saturday, November 18, at 5:00pm for an exciting evening of music. The evening’s program will consist of Cantatas 79, 80, and the commissioned work Into the Light by composer Jake Runestad.
Under the director of Dr. Christopher M. Cock, the Valparaiso University Chorale is one of the top Lutheran collegiate choirs in the country, upholding the highest standards of choral art through performance of the greatest choral literature and preserving the University’s rich choral tradition. The 48 mixed-voice ensemble travels the world performing an eclectic repertoire that spans from traditional to contemporary works to selections that express multicultural perspectives.
The Chorale will be accompanied by the Indianapolis Baroque Baroque Orchestra. Named one of the top 25 ensembles in celebration of Early Music America’s 25th anniversary in 2011, the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra is dedicated to excellent and exuberant performance of 17th and 18th-century music on period instruments. It is led by the artistic director, Barthold Kuijken, who is an internationally renowned baroque flutist and distinguished early music pedagogue.
This musical event the fourth and final event recognizing the continuing significance of the Reformation cosponsored by Liberty Fund, Inc., and Christian Theological Seminary.
It will take place in Sweeney Chapel at 5:00pm on Saturday, November 18. It is free and the public is invited.
